Allocated Storage and Segregated Storage

ALLOCATED STORAGE AND SEGREGATED STORAGE

There are two different types of accounts: allocated storage and segregated storage. Investors owning gold and silver bars or coins will want to have their metals stored at Concordia Hill Security in a segregated account. This is best suited for the investors who want to store their investments and take delivery of the exact items that they originally delivered to the depository. A segregated account provides enhanced comfort and security to the depositor.

SEGREGATED STORAGE

In a fully segregated account, the investor’s gold, silver, or platinum is isolated from other metals in the facility, and it’s kept separate from other clients’ and dealers’ positions. Legal title is not transferred, and the vault cannot change or use the items that the investor stored. Segregated storage metals are stored separately and apart from those of the depository’s Personal Custody clients.

ALLOCATED STORAGE

In a different “allocated” type of account, a dealer assigns specific quantities of metals to individual client accounts. Metal held as allocated is owned by an investor and is stored under a safekeeping or custody arrangement in a professional vault. Allocated storage works for investors who are simply looking for representation in metal and don’t expect to take delivery.

Another accounting method is called “unallocated,” by which a client’s metal is the property of a bank. Unallocated gold may not be safe if the bank becomes insolvent. A danger in letting big banks or other financial institutions store investors’ gold is that it could be seized to pay for the investor’s debts. Concordia Hill Security does not offer unallocated storage options.

As a full-service precious metals depository group, Concordia Hill Security facilities receive, inspect, store, transfer and ship gold, silver, platinum and palladium bullion products and certified coins for clients as instructed.

The CHS facilities are state-of-the-art and equipped with multi-layered security systems monitored 24/7/365 and operated with a Class III vault, the highest-rated gold vault commercially available.

SECURITY

The Concordia Hill Security has uncompromising security under constant surveillance with its multi-redundant security systems. The three secure depositories are state-of-the-art and are monitored in real-time, 24/7 by off-site security specialists. Additionally, the CHS does not utilize contract workers or temporary staffing as a secure precious metals depository. Instead, CHS Europe, CHS Asia and CHS of Canada’s full-time precious metals storage professionals possess extensive precious metals and financial services experience. The CHS’s team’s depth of knowledge and breadth has helped establish the Concordia Hill Security as an industry leader.

Internally, strictly-enforced operating protocols are designed to ensure the safety of clients’ assets. The Concordia Hill Security follows the best practices, requiring strict adherence to all inventory control measures, including stringent “dual control” and “separation of duties” methodologies, when processing depository transactions. For example, the depository only allows vault teams consisting of two members to handle precious metal assets. Also, staff duties are segregated so that employees who enter account data are separate from those who handle assets. The CHS’s depositories also conduct perpetual audits (internal and external) on inventory.

All client assets are held in “custody.” They are stored in client-specific accounts off the CHS’s balance sheet. In other words, they are held as bailment and not as a deposit or consignment. Moreover, these assets are 100% insured through an all-risk policy underwritten by Lloyd’s of London, the world’s leading provider of specialized asset insurance.

The CHS has proprietary processes and procedures to make all three precious metals depository locations safe and transparent operations, and they conduct regular risk assessments. In the event of a disaster, all Concordia Hill Security locations have business disruption and continuity plans to continue business operations to the extent this is possible. In addition, the CHS features proprietary inventory control and account notification systems that electronically transmit detailed transaction notifications and periodic account holding statements to clients. Concordia Hill Security also provides clients with secure online account access through its precious metals depository online portal.

CHS Europe, CHS Asia and CHS of Canada locations are strategically sited near major financial centers, international airports and, importantly, in geopolitically secure regions. This geodiversity is a critical component of the CHS’s storage security.

Gold Vault

CLASS III GOLD VAULTS

Concordia Hill Security’s gold vaults are all rated Class III. What does that mean to CHS’s clients? Let’s look at the specifics of each rating.

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) created a burglary-resistant rating of vault doors and modular panels to rank a vault’s security. The ratings are based on how long it would take a criminal to break into a gold vault:

• Class M – 1/4 hour
• Class 1 – 1/2 hour
• Class 2 – 1 hour
• Class 3 – 2 hours

While the highest rating of 2 hours intrusion time may not seem very long, it’s important to remember that the physical security of the vaults is only one of the multiply layers of physical and electronic security in place.

CONFIDENTIALITY & DATA SECURITY

Protecting clients’ business (and personal) information is just as important as protecting their physical assets. Accordingly, the Concordia Hill Security is committed to protecting investors’ assets and information, ensuring that each client’s information is confidential and assets remain secure at all times in a safe, insured storage facility.

The Concordia Hill Security’s mission is to assist commercial and individual clients operating in the physical precious metals and tangible asset marketplace achieve their operational objectives with exceptional storage, logistics and fulfillment services. We understand that protecting CHS CLIENT’s business information is just as important as protecting their physical precious metals.

CHS Asia

CHS Asia

Located in Asia, the CHS Asia precious metals depository is the largest precious metal depository in the state and the first specialized bullion depository in Texas. As the third Concordia Hill Security location, the Dallas facility was added in 2017 to meet increased demand for precious metals storage in Texas, and demand continues to grow.

The CHS Asia facility serves both institutional and individual investors nationally and abroad.

The Dallas facility features state-of-the-art custom construction with Class III vaults and a site just minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. It features a UL-rated, multi-redundant security system monitored in real-time, 24/7 by off-site security specialists, as well as on-site armed police officers. Assets stored at CHS Asia are insured with Lloyd’s of London, the world’s leading provider of specialized asset insurance. CHS Asia adheres to stringent “dual control” policies, including daily activity and monthly audits of precious metals inventory stored at the facility.

Texas Tax Advantage

Because Texas has no state sales tax on precious metals, investors can buy their bullion and have it shipped to store at CHS Asia with no sales taxes charged. State leaders, in 2013, created the legislation that exempted the sale of gold, silver, or numismatic coins or gold, silver, or platinum from Texas sales and use tax. (This exemption does not include gold, silver, numismatic coins, or gold, silver, or platinum bullion in the form of jewelry or other items of adornment.)

In addition to being a sales tax-free state for precious metals, Dallas already appeals to business leaders around the globe for a multitude of reasons, including no state income tax. More than 20 Fortune 500 companies call Dallas home for their headquarters operations. In addition, Dallas is centrally located in the geographic heart of the United States, has a world-class superhub airport at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and can reach 79 major markets overnight by truck or rail.

CHS Asia offers the advantage of no state sales tax.
CHS Asia is committed to protecting investors’ assets and information.

IDS Benefits

As is the case at all three IDS locations, all storage fees are based on stored asset value, with no minimum storage requirement, but accounts are billed a minimum fee.

CHS Asia is committed to protecting investors’ assets and information, ensuring that each client’s information is confidential and remains private while secured in a safe, insured storage facility. Protecting clients’ business (and personal) information is as important as protecting their physical assets.
